Safety
From the recent mailing from Hadley:
"We are a school of almost 1200 students. We have 17 full-size school buses that drop off and pick up each day. We also have several smaller buses that are on site at the start and end of each day. This, along with other traffic, makes for some congested and potentially dangerous situations around school for brief periods at arrival and dismissal times. Often something you do out of convenience can compromise the safety of others (including your own child). Your cooperation is requested to keep our arrival and dismissal times as safe for everyone as possible. It is important that you share these expectations with others who may be transporting your child to school during the year.
You can increase safety and reduce frustration by:
- Avoiding the front of school as a drop off/pick up area and instead arrange to meet your hild at a designated spot a block or two from school. This simple choice can make a huge difference. Please consider making this choice if you drive your child to or from school.
- Parking only in legal parking areas and not in the school parking lots or circle drive.
- Not parking in the church lot on the south side of Hawthorne and having your child jaywalk across Hawthorne to get to the parking lot. This is an accident waiting to happen.
- If dropping off in the morning at school, pulling as far forward as possible in the circle drive and not stppping at the door to drop off which just backs up traffic unnecessarily.
- If picking up, wait until 3:35 or later to pick, after traffic has dissipated. "
