Committee Descriptions

Activity Nights-6th, 7th, 8th Grade
Organize, plan and publicize grade-level activity nights, either on or off campus. Examples of off-campus events are roller skating, Health Track nights, and Ackerman nights.

Community Outreach
Assist school social worker in providing clothes, school supplies, and other necessities to D41 students in need.

Curriculum Enhancement
Work with committee to understand and consider requests for funding for projects and materials from Hadley staff; take questions to Board on special projects.

Destination Imagination
Coaches help guide small teams of students develop creative solutions to problems devised by the worldwide Destination Imagination Association. Students get a chance to learn how to work cooperatively in groups, write and design solutions, build sets, create costumes and props.

Coordinate the information needed for the directory (data comes from the school district) and prepare it for printing.

Plan and schedule fundraising nights.

General Volunteer 
Help with various PTA committees and ad hoc basis as your schedule permits. Throughout the school year, General Volunteers are sent emails where additional assistance is needed. Past requests for help have included Activity Nights, Magazine Madness, Community Outreach or POW. This gives volunteers a more flexible option for helping out.
Hadley Happenings - Editor
Solicit and coordinate the articles for the monthly e-Hadley Happenings Newsletter and upload it to the PTA website. Also send newsletter via email to PTA members.

Hadley Helps/Staff Support
Assist Hadley counselors with various projects including programs such as Valentines for Vets and annual Holiday Store. Assist Hadley teachers with various projects such as copying, and collating science textbook materials and other documents.

Become an advocate for our children by helping to educate the PTA membership about local, state and national legislative issues that affect our community.

Let’s Dance – 7th Grade, 8th Grade
Coordinate volunteers for chaperoning classes. Will assist in the registering of students for this class.

Magazine Madness Fundraiser
Coordinate or assist with our main fundraiser of the year, working with contracted vendor.

Nominating Committee 
Help identify individuals willing to serve as PTA officers for the next school year.

Powerful Outstanding Women (POW)
Plan sessions and motivational speaker, and recruit session leaders and volunteers for this event to help Hadley girls connect with their inner power.

Help spread the news about activities that are taking place at Hadley. Volunteers are needed to assist in taking pictures at school events and contacting newspapers.

Coordinate the annual National PTA sponsored writing, music and art show and competition for all grade levels. Reflections takes place in the early fall.

Work with the Principal on safety issues pertaining to Hadley, and help promote awareness and education on safety issues that concern our children and community.

Review applications of high school applicants to receive the PTA District Council scholarship.

Special Education Parents' Support Group
Coordinate Special Education Resource Committee events in conjunction with district SERC committee.
Student Council Rep – 6th Grade, 7th Grade, 8th Grade 
Provide PTA assistance, guidance and help at Hadley elections.  Assist the Student Council when needed.

PTA Theater Arts 
Help with the PTA musical. Cast supervisors, set builders, concessions managers, costume and prop organizers needed.

Staff Appreciation – 6th Grade, 7th Grade, 8th Grade 
Volunteers are needed to help plan and run events such as dinner during parent/teacher conferences and plan activities during Teacher Appreciation Week.
